abdominal contraction

An easy and effective exercise for strengthening the abdominal muscles. It may be performed almost anytime and anywhere, while sitting, standing, or lying down. All you need to do is tense your abdominal (stomach) muscles for a few seconds while breathing out. This causes the muscles to contract without producing any movement of the trunk and hips. Be careful not to overstrain. See also isometrics.
