Abengourou is a city in Abengourou Department of Côte d'Ivoire. Abengourou is primarily populated by the Anyi ethnic group, a branch of the Akan people who migrated to the region from Ghana. The population of Abengourou was estimated to be 105,000 people in 2004. The town is served by Abengourou Airport.
The name "Abengourou" stems from the Ashanti expression "n'pé kro", which means "I don't like long discussions".[citation needed]
The city is home to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Abengourou, with its cathedral at the Cathédrale Sainte Thérèse de l’enfant Jésus.
