Plot

Not a derivation of the Broadway smash Abie's Irish Rose, as might be assumed, Abie's Imported Bride was lensed independently in Philadelphia. The hero is the son of a wealthy Jewish mill owner. Feeling guilty over the millions of Jews starving in Russia, Abie throws a society ball to raise relief money. While delivering the money in Europe, Abie is inveigled into an arranged marriage. He falls in love with the girl, but worries that his father will disinherit him for marrying a "foreigner". What he doesn't know is that his father was the fellow who arranged the marriage in the first place. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
