Abilene Reporter-News is a daily newspaper based in Abilene, Texas, USA. It is owned by the newspaper group, The E.W. Scripps Company. The newspaper started publishing three months after Abilene was founded in 1881 making it the oldest continuous business in the city.

The newspaper, owned in the early 1920s by Ed Hanks, in 1924 became one of the two original flagships of the Harte-Hanks newspaper chain.[1] Scripps began operating the newspaper in 1997 after purchasing it from Harte-Hanks. The newspaper, like much of Abilene, is mostly right-wing in its views.[citation needed]

Veteran Texas journalist Bob Bruce worked at the Reporter-News from March 1959 until his retirement on July 16, 1998. During his 39-year-career, he wrote extensively on military, business, political, and regional matters. For the last quarter century, he was the newspaper's travel editor.[2]
