Abortion in Bolivia

Wikipedia: Abortion in Bolivia

Abortion in Bolivia is currently illegal unless it must be done to prevent harm to the woman's health or in cases of rape. [1] This policy has been in place since 1973. [2]

The punishment is 1 to 3 years in prison for the pregnant woman who consents to the operation, and 1 to 6 years for the person who does the procedure. If a woman performs the procedure on herself, she will only be charged with consenting to an abortion.[1]

Nonetheless, it is a challenge for pregnant women to actually secure a legal, safe abortion; even if they have been raped. [3]
