Myers, Abraham Charles (1811-89) quartermaster general of the Confederate army, born in Georgetown, South Carolina. Myers served from the start of the war until removed by Jefferson Davis in 1863. Myers proved inadequate for the major logistical problems faced by the department and failed to exercise administrative leadership as well. Refusing to remain in the department in a subordinate position, he was dismissed from the army.
