Materials used for polishing and cleansing. Common materials include calcium carbonate (calcite, chalk, whiting), diamond particles (for porcelain), some aluminum derivatives (not for enamel), rouge (jeweler’s rouge; applied to gold and precious metal alloys), and tin oxide (putty powder, stannic oxide).
