Absolute Nuts
A situation where a player holds the absolute best hand. The absolute nuts cannot be beaten by any opposing player regardless of their hand.
For example, assume in a hand of Texas Hold'em you were dealt hooks ( J - J ) and the board showed J - J - A - 9 - 2, making your best hand four jacks. Even if an opposing player had bullets ( A - A ), giving them Aces full of jacks ( A - A - A - J - J ) your four of a kind is the absolute nuts and win.
SoundPoker Says: Once you have recognized that your hand is the Absolute Nuts, your goal is to maximize your profits. How to maximize your winnings changes depending on your opponents play styles, the number of opponents in the hand, and the type of game being played. For example, in a loose game with many opponents you will want to play fairly aggressively, because many opponents will simply call your raises. In a tight game with few opponents, slow playing with a check-raise would be a sound strategy to commit your opponents into the pot.
