Abu Dhabi University (ADU) was established in 2003, after three years of planning by H. H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nayhan and other distinguished citizens of the United Arab Emirates.
The University has stated:

The university aimed to ensure that all degree programs would be accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research before any students enrolled.[2]
Abu Dhabi University provides both undergraduate and postgraduate study programs, and consists of three collages along with the

In October 2006, a new campus opened in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi. It will include a teaching hospital, a mosque, a graduate center and a sports field. There are plans to build a K-12 school with a nursery that will cater to 2,000 students. [4] The construction plan was divided into three phases.[4] First Phase included an area of 43,000 square meters, a total of 50 classrooms, 6 computer labs, 2 scientific labs, 8 specialized labs and an auditorium with a seating capacity of 630, along with other various facilities. Phases two and three included expansion of facilities, increasing total capacity to 10,000 students.
The University's Abu Dhabi campus is located on Al Ain Road, approximately 28 kilometers (km) from the city. The Al-Ain campus is located on the Abu Dhabi–Al Ain Road, near the Asharej Roundabout.
