Review

On this acoustic live performance, recorded for MTV in 2001, Cássia Eller presents some of her most popular songs in acoustic settings, along with rather unexpected versions of Edith Piaf's "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien," the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and Chico Buarque's "Partido Alto." Eller's strong, commanding voice together with her strong personality as a singer allow her to overcome the risks of the material coming across as overly eclectic. Among the highlights are the breathtakingly passionate version of "Malandragem" (by Cazuza), a lushly orchestrated and beautiful "Segundo Sol," a wonderfully aggressive "De Esquina" and a soft rendition of "Todo Amor Que Houver Nessa Vida." ~ Philip Jandovský, Rovi
