Academic grading in Vietnam

Top

Schools and universities in Vietnam use a 10-point grading scale, with 10 being the highest and 0 being the lowest. Often, 5 is the lowest passing grade.

The grading may vary from school to school. It depends on the difficulty of each.

There are usually six levels in the classification of a Vietnamese GPA.

Point Standing Grade
9.0–10.0 Excellent A+
8.0-8.9 Very Good A
7.0-7.9 Good B
6.0-6.9 Above Average B-
5.0-5.9 Average C
0-4.9 Failing F

The distribution of grades differs from standards in western countries and strongly depends on the university. Before around 2000, all universities which were not private gave Cs to the majority of students who could pass their examinations.
