Accord is a coalition that was launched in September 2008 to campaign for reform of the current law governing faith schools in Britain.[1][2] It is unusual in that it counts religious and non-religious organisations among its members.
Accord was founded by organisations including the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, the British Humanist Association and Ekklesia[3]. Its campaigns for changes to the legislation that governs the admissions, staffing and curriculum of state funded religious schools.
The Chair of Accord is Rabbi Dr Jonathan Romain MBE, the minister of Maidenhead Synagogue. Its supporters include academics, clergy, politicians and theologians[4].
