Biography

The emo-pop kids of Ace Troubleshooter emerged in early 2000 and introduced a power sound all their own. Childhood friends Isaac Deaton, John Warne, Josh Abbott, and Ben Dewey looked up to bands like Rancid, Green Day, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Weezer. Their self-titled debut album appeared in October 2000 and Ace Troubleshooter went on to play over 200 shows in support of the record. They played alongside the likes of MxPx, Five Iron Frenzy, and Thousand Foot Crutch, and gained a small following. Two years later, Ace Troubleshooter released The Madness of the Crowds, their first for Tooth & Nail. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide

Death of Ace

Ace Troubleshooter came to an abrupt end in February 2005 when lead singer John Warne left to play bass for Relient K. Toby David posted the announcement of the Ace's death on the band's message board, mentioning that even though he was not an original member of the band, he felt like he was. [1] It has been said that Ace was starting to fall apart as it was, and they were not going anywhere, which may have led to the band's split.

Members

The Ace Troubleshooter lineup changed several times; even Relient K former drummer Dave Douglas filled in as a guitarist for a short time. Only two original members remained when the band came to an end. Those two members, John Warne and Josh Abbott, both played in the short-lived band Guerilla Rodeo shortly before Ace's death. While John Warne went on to play for Relient K, Josh Abbott went on to play for My Red Hot Nightmare.

Friendship with Relient K

Relient K was often known as the "brother band" to Ace Troubleshooter. Relient K and Ace toured together for years, and the members were all friends with each other. This explains why Dave Douglas filled in as a guitarist for Ace at one point and why John Warne filled in as bassist for Relient K when Brian Pittman first left.

Relient K's Matt Thiessen said in 2000 that they were allowed by Ace to live on their bus, as Relient K was just starting out. This show was one of the cases where the band's schedules resulted in them playing together. [2]
