What is Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride dental foam?

ACIDULATED PHOSPHATE FLUORIDE (FluoroFoam™ and many others) is a dentist-applied product that supplies sodium fluoride, which is a mineral that strengthens tooth enamel. Fluoride helps to prevent dental decay. Generic acidulated phosphate fluoride foam is available.

What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
• dry mouth
• porcelain or ceramic denture(s)
• Sjogren's syndrome
• stained, mottled, or pitted teeth
• stomach or intestinal disease
• an unusual reaction to fluoride, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• breast-feeding

How should this medicine be used?

This does not apply. This product will be applied to your teeth at the dentist's office.

What if I miss a dose?

This does not apply. See your dentist on a regular basis. Try to keep all your dentist appointments. If you miss an appointment, reschedule as soon as you can.

What drug(s) may interact with Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride?

No drug interactions have been reported.

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. These may affect the way your medicine works. Check with your health care professional before stopping or starting any of your medicines.

What should I watch for while taking Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride?

The use of this product may reduce your risk of dental cavities. Continue to follow proper dental hygiene, such as regular brushing and flossing. See your dentist for regular checkups.

What side effects may I notice from receiving Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride?

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:
• black, tarry stools
• difficulty breathing
• hives
• mottled or discolored teeth
• nausea or vomiting
• skin rash or itching
• sores in the mouth or on the lips
• stomach pain
• unusual weakness

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
• mild burning or gum irritation

Where can I keep my medicine?

This does not apply. This product will be applied to your teeth in a dentist's office.
