History
Opened by the Great Eastern Railway it became part of the London and North Eastern Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The line then passed on to the Eastern Region of British Railways on nationalisation in 1948.
When Sectorisation was introduced, the station was served by Regional Railways until the Privatisation of British Railways.
The station is served by National Express East Anglia, who operate services between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. Services are operated by diesel multiple units of Classes 153, 156 or 170.
The station has the only passing loop on the Acle branch of the Wherry Line, and in times past was a coaling depot.
