ACTION was a United States government agency described as, "the Federal Domestic Volunteer Agency".[1] It was formed in 1970 from VISTA; the Peace Corps; and the Foster Grandparents, Retired and Senior Volunteer, and Senior Companion Programs (later merged into the Senior Corps).[2][3] In 1993 the Corporation for National and Community Service was created by merging ACTION and the Commission on National and Community Service together, thus ending ACTION.[2]
