Actors' Society of America
An organization formed in 1895, partially in reaction to the practices of the Theatrical Trust, it attempted to regulate and, wherever possible, to standardize contractual obligations between performers and producers. Led by Louis Aldrich, the group had only minimal influence, and declined in membership after Aldrich's death in 1901. An attempt was made to incorporate it into the Actors' Fund of America, but when that failed, the group was dissolved in 1912.
