The song first leaked sans a verse from Fabolous, but was added for the official single. In addition there is an alternate version of the song featuring Keri Hilson instead of Cassie. The song's lyrics interpolate portions of Michael Jackson's "I Can't Help It".
Hip hop recording artist Kid Cudi has a popular freestyle over "Addiction" titled "London Girls", as well as the Clipse on their mixtape Road To Till The Casket Drops.
The music video, directed by Diane Martel, who worked with Fabolous in Jennifer Lopez's "Get Right (Remix)" premiered on Yahoo! Music on September 8.[4] Although Cassie does not appear in the video her vocals are still used.
There's also an alternate music video, sans Cassie, featuring cameo appearances from Jaslene Gonzalez, winner of Cycle 8 of America's Next Top Model and rapper Swizz Beatz who appears with Fabolous.
The single debuted on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles at number 15 (which is equivalent to number 115 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs) and has since peaked at number 47 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It also charted on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles peaking at number 15.
