Transaction changing an address currently on file to a new or corrected address. The corrections may be made individually by key entry or through a computer program that compares old records to new. Addresses are corrected in response to individual or U.S. Postal Service notification of changes or just prior to a mailing. Address change information can also be purchased from private sources, such as other mailers or list compilers. See also address change service; nixie.
