Process of applying the addressee's name and address on an order form, envelope, or other mailing piece. Addressing is usually accomplished by applying preaddressed labels or by using impact printers, ink-jet printers, or laser printers to add the name and address directly onto the mailing piece. Mail can also be addressed with a form visible through a window envelope. Ink-jet or laser-printed addresses appear more personalized than label addresses, but can be more costly.
