adductor magnus

A thigh adductor muscle. It has two origins on the pelvic girdle: one on the pubis and the other on the ischial tuberosity. It has a broad insertion on the linea aspera and the adductor tubercle of the femur. Its anterior portion adducts, laterally rotates, and flexes the thigh. Its posterior part acts as a synergist of the hamstrings during thigh extension.
