adhiśīla

(Sanskrit; Pāli, adhisīla). Literally, ‘higher morality’. The doctrinal training undertaken by those following the Eightfold Path. It relates particularly to the first of the three divisions of the Path, namely Morality (śīla). See also adhicitta; adhiprajñā.
