Adnan (Arabic: عدنان) is an Arabic male name. Its eponymous bearer was Adnan, an ancestor of Muhammad's. The etymological meaning of the name is "settler" (vel sim.)[citation needed], from a Semitic root `dn "to stay, abide" also found in the name of Eden, literally the "place of abode" and equally Aden, the city in Yemen. Adnan is a popular first name in many Muslim countries.
