Adolf Hausrath

Hausrath, Adolf (Karlsruhe, 1837-1909, Heidelberg), a professor at Heidelberg from 1870, wrote a number of novels based on archaeological study, and known as Professorenromane; the best-known titles are Antinous (1880) and Jutta (1884). His works were published under the pseudonyms George Taylor or (less frequently) Konrad Mähly. Pater Maternus (1898) was the only novel to bear his real name. His two-volume life of Luther (Luthers Leben) appeared in 1906.
