AEA Investors is in business to make its group of rich investors even richer by buying midsize companies, improving their sales, and selling them a few years later. With an exclusive club-like reputation, the company has interests in more than a dozen firms in the consumer products, specialty chemicals, industrial products, and services sectors in the US and Europe. In 2006 the company opened an office in Hong Kong to focus on investments in Asia. Holdings include roofing products manufacturer Henry Company, sales and marketing agency Acosta, and industrial insulation maker Unifrax. AEA Investors was founded in 1968 by the Rockefeller, Harriman, and Mellon industrial families.
