What began in 1969 as an off-air community antenna service has grown into a provider of cable television, Internet, and phone service for the residents of Coral Springs and Weston, Florida. Advocate Communications (doing business as Advanced Cable Communications) offers digital cable TV and broadband Internet access to about 50,000 subscribers. It also provides Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) computer telephony service through a partnership with Vonage. The company is a division of Indiana-based diversified media company Schurz Communications, which bought what was then Coral Springs Cablevision in 1978.
