Plot

The importance of Pablo Picasso became evident in 1907, when his painting Les Demoiselles d'Avignon puzzled art lovers and critics alike. His attempt to show a subject from several viewpoints was confusing to many and infuriating to others, and the cubist movement was born. The Adventure of Modern Art: Cubism examines the influence of Picasso on his contemporaries, including George Braque and Juan Gris, who joined the movement. In addition to their startling images, the cubists also began applying objects to their paintings, opening new avenues for later artists. ~ Alice Day, Rovi
