Overview

The levels in Adventures of Lolo were based on some of the ones in the previous Japanese games of the Eggerland series, in addition to some original levels, for a total of 50 levels. In contrast to other games in the series, this game tells a story within the game (a story window is shown before the player begins each floor).

Because the game was seen as a "compilation," it was not released in Japan. Its sequel, Adventures of Lolo 2 in the West, was known as Adventures of Lolo in Japan. Most of the graphics are similar to the game Eggerland - Revival of the Labyrinth with only minor differences. It spawned two sequels for the NES: Adventures of Lolo 2 and Adventures of Lolo 3, both of which had gameplay very similar to the original. It was released for the Wii Virtual Console in Europe and Australia on June 8, 2007, and in North America on August 6, 2007.

Lolo and Lala, the games' protagonists, have appeared in the Kirby games under the monikers Lololo and Lalala, where they play a more antagonistic role. Both game series are made by HAL Laboratory, Inc.

Reception

When Adventures of Lolo was released on the Wii's virtual console it received generally positive reviews. IGN cited the game's unique game-play and strong puzzles, but criticized its low replay value, giving it a score of 8/10[1]. Gamespot awarded a score of 7.5/10[2].
