Advertising Women of New York (AWNY)

New York's leading professional organization for women in communications, founded in 1912 by 40 women who were denied admission into the then all-male Advertising Club of New York. Originally the organization was designed by women for women in order to open new opportunities for women in the field of advertising. Currently its membership totals over 1000 professionals representing advertising, marketing, merchandising, research, promotion, public relations, and the media. Although a clear majority of AWNY's members are women, the organization welcomes men as members and encourages their participation in all of its activities-from programs dedicated to the continued development of managerial and professional skills to programs for guidance and support of future professionals. The organization offers seminars, workshops, luncheon programs, and industry and community projects to address a myriad of social and industry issues.
