Aegisth (Strauss: Elektra). Tenor. Husband of Queen Klytämnestra. He became her lover while her husband Agamemnon was away fighting in the Trojan War. On his return, Aegisth helped Klytämnestra to murder Agamemnon. He now lives with her in the palace and is murdered with her by her son Orest. Created (1909) by Johannes Sembach.
