The lyrics are a series of statements each starting with "I believe", for instance: "I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality" and "I believe that trust is more important than monogamy". The song was first performed live at the Sydney Olympic Games Closing Ceremony in October 2000, with Darren wearing a T-shirt depicting the Aboriginal flag. The European music video is a collection of clips from the group's tour of Brisbane, entitled Superstars and Cannonballs. The original Australian version of the music video comprises various pictures and footage from history. The single was most successful in the United Kingdom where it reached #8, becoming the duo's third top 10 hit. The song was performed by Joe McElderry on his Classic Tour.
