Biography
Prolific cinematographer Affonso Beato has worked in many countries with many diverse talents, but has gained recognition for his collaborations with Spanish director Pedro Almodovar. The Brazilian native has an educational background in electrical engineering and computer analysis, but switched to film in 1964. Since that time, he has worked on nearly 40 feature length films and numerous commercials and short length films. In 1970, Beato moved to the United States and, as most people in the film industry do, became a bicoastal resident of both New York City and Los Angeles. ~ Ryan Shriver, All Movie Guide
