Plot

Following the route of African-American literature, this film, Africa to America to Paris: The Migration of Black Writers, provides an in-depth look at the development of this genre. From continent to continent, the viewer can track this route as it travels from New Orleans to Harlem, and then to the creative environment of the Left Bank of Paris. The program highlights the saga of James Baldwin as he leaves the U.S. to pursue a less restrictive atmosphere.
