Wikipedia:

African electronica

African Electronica is a recently appearing musical genre, borne out by the decrease in price and availability of home recording studios. Exposure to "Chill Out" or "Lounge Music" in South Africa, in particular has allowed musicians to experiment and release, either on record labels or via the Internet, recordings that would otherwise never have seen the light of day. Some record labels, like South Africa's David Gresham Records, www.greshamrecords.co.za have a policy of mixing local electronica with Internationally licensed songs to make albums more palatable.
