Review

After Dark is the first home video release from Type O Negative. The N.Y.C. quartet presents all six of their promotional videos (a few previously unreleased), intercut with interviews and funny behind the scenes goings-on. The gang doesn't take themselves too seriously (a rare occurrence with metal bands), as singer/bassist Pete Steele acts as the narrator for the majority of the video, exposing what it's like to be on the road with a metal band in the '90s. All the members (Josh Silver, Kenny Hickey, and Johnny Kelly) are interviewed separately and together; some have meaningful things to say, others absolutely nothing. Almost all the clips have elements of horror and erotica, with the highlights being their breakthrough track "Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare-All)," and the controversial "Christian Woman," and the psychedelia-tinged "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend." The only problem with After Dark is the absence of full-length live tracks, but it's still worthy of any Type O Negative fan's collection. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi
