Ağdam (also, Agdam and Aghdam) was a city in and the capital of the Agdam Rayon in southwestern part of Azerbaijan. In July 1993 its Azerbajani population fled from Armenian forces, and it is currently a ghost town. Despite the fact that no fighting occurred in the city, it was destroyed by the Armenians. Bricks and other materials from the ruined city are currently being used to repair damage elsewhere in the de facto Nagorno Karabakh Republic.[1]
