Agesilāus, one of the minor works of Xenophon, a biographical essay on his friend the Spartan king (see above). Xenophon relates in some detail the campaign of Agesilaus against the Persian satrap Tissaphernes in 395 BC and the march back to Greece through Macedonia and Thessaly, and gives a full description of the battle of Coronea at which, according to Plutarch, Xenophon fought for his friend against his fellow-countrymen.
