aggressive periodontitis

A bacterial disease of the teeth and gingiva that manifests before age 35, often in prepubescent children. It is caused primarily by the bacterium Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, leading to rapid tissue deterioration. See also periodontitis, juvenile and periodontitis, early-on-set (EOP).
