AGILE

Wikipedia: AGILE (spacecraft)

AGILE is an acrynom of Astro‐rivelatore Gamma a Immagini LEggero and it is an X-ray and Gamma ray astronomical satellite of the Italian Space Agency (ASI). The design, development and fabrication of the satellite was led by Carlo Gavazzi Space, Milan, Italy, in association with several industrial and research institutions.

AGILE is equipped with scientific instruments capable of imaging distant celestial objects in the X-ray and Gamma ray regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.

It was launched successfully into orbit on April 23, 2007 by the Indian PSLV-C8 launch vehicle developed by the ISRO. At lift-off, AGILE weighed 352 kg.

ASI has made contact with AGILE: signals from it have been acquired by the ground station at Malindi, Kenya and it has been placed in a sun-pointing mode.[1]
