Biography

American screenwriter Agnes Christine Johnston entered films in 1918. Among her many silent-movie credits were Mary Pickford's Daddy Long Legs (1918), Lon Chaney's Tower of Lies (1925), Marion Davies' Beverly of Graustark (1926) and The Patsy (1927). Her sound films include Harold Lloyd's best talkie feature, Movie Crazy (1932). A specialist in small-town Americana and cozy family fare, Johnston worked on MGM's Andy Hardy series and Paramount's similar Henry Aldrich films, and collaborated on Warner Bros' wartime teen-romance comedy Janie (1944). Agnes Christine Johnston's last films were the outdoor dramas Black Beauty (1946) and Black Gold (1947). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
