SunAmerica Financial Group represents the domestic life and retirement services segment of insurance giant American International Group (AIG). Its subsidiaries sell a variety of investment products, including fixed annuities (Western National Life Insurance); group retirement services for education, health care, and not-for-profit organizations (VALIC); and variable annuities (SunAmerica Annuity and Life Assurance). SagePoint Financial provides broker/dealer services. Other units include SunAmerica Asset Management (retail mutual funds) and AIG SunAmerica Retirement Markets. Ailing parent AIG cancelled plans to sell its retirement businesses in 2009.
