Protective, cushioning packing material made of plastic with air pockets covering the surface. The air pockets absorb shock, preventing damage to the material being shipped. Air-bubble packing can cost 20% less than other packing materials because less material and labor is required to fill the spaces surrounding the merchandise in the carton. See also blister pack.
