Airbus Americas, the US-based arm of France's Airbus S.A.S., serves the European plane maker's important North and Latin American customer base. It supplies major passenger carriers, including Northwest Airlines, United Air Lines, and US Airways Group, as well as cargo carriers, startup airlines, and leading leasing companies. Airbus' single-aisle and wide-body jets can accommodate between 100 and more than 550 passengers. Its A320 model delivers lower operating costs and continues to win business in the Americas. Its A350 XWB (made largely of composite material) and the upcoming jumbo twin-deck A380 XWB is expected to give rival Boeing's 787 Dreamliner a run for its money. Netherlands-based EADS owns Airbus.
