Formed in 1993, Akella entered the history books as the first Russian company to officially localize and publish a foreign game, Pod, in Russia. It was a hit. In 2000, Akella developed Sea Dogs, released both in Russia and around the world. Akella maintains relationships with various Russian and foreign publishers and developers, to create products such as Privateer's Bounty, Curse of Atlantis: Thorgal's Quest, and World War II, Panzer Claws.In 2003, Akella developed the expansion for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and began development for Axel Rage. The company began to make games under license, the first being Pirates of the Caribbean.
