Aker Drilling (OSE: AKD) is a Norwegian drilling rig operation company. It is part of the Aker Group and is listed on Oslo Stock Exchange. The company has its headquarters in Stavanger, Norway.
There was previously in the 1970s a different company called Aker Drilling, also that one being part of the Aker Group. That company is now part of Fred. Olsen Energy.
Aker Drilling owns two Aker H-6e type 6th generation semi-submersible drilling rigs, Aker Barents and Aker Spitsbergen, designed by Aker Solutions.
On 15 August 2010, Transocean made a US$1.43 billion takeover bid for Aker Drilling. Under the transaction, Transocean has made a voluntary NOK26.50 ($4.83) per share cash offer for all outstanding shares in the company.[1][2]
