  • Location: The Sudan
'The Courtyard in front of the Palace' from fashr 'court'. This referred to an open area where the sultan could hold public audiences. The town grew up around the palaces of successive Sultans of Darfur. In the late 18th century the Fur Sultan of Darfur established his court here.
