Foundation

The team was founded as (Al-Jameaa) (الجامعة) on 17 December 1969 to represent the University of Baghdad and by special resolution from the Football Association decided that the team participates in the first division (second level) without going through second and third divisions. And in season 1970-71 the team won the first division and qualified to the Iraqi Premier League.
