Al Zaabi (Arabic: الزعابي), (plural: Za'ab) is the name of a tribe in the United Arab Emirates who originally lived in Al Jazirah Al Hamra in what is today the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah. Some of the tribe migrated to Abu Dhabi after a clash between the tribe and Sheikh Saqr bin Muhammad of Ras Al-Khaimah.[1] Some say the reason for the clash was because Al Qassimi took Al Jazirah Al Hamra from the original Sheikh who was from the Al Zaabi tribe. The original Sheikh was killed, but had he lived the husband of his daughter Aisha husband would have been the Sheikh[citation needed]. Abu Dhabi provided shelter to the major part of the tribe and many of them were later appointed as overseas ambassadors.[citation needed]
