The Alabama gubernatorial election of 2006 occurred November 7, 2006, the primary occurred on June 6, 2006.[1] Incumbent Republican Bob Riley defeated Democratic Lieutenant Governor Lucy Baxley.

General Election
Candidates
- Lucy Baxley (Democratic Nominee), the Lieutenant Governor and former State Treasurer, won the June 6 Democratic primary with approximately 60% of the primary votes. She defeated Don Siegelman, former Governor & Lieutenant Governor, who conceded with approximately 35% of the primary votes. Other Democratic primary candidates Joe Copeland, Nathan Mathis, James Potts, Katherine Mack, and Harry Lyon all received less than 1% of votes.
- Bob Riley (Republican Nominee), the Incumbent Governor, won the June 6 Republican primary with approximately 65% of the primary votes. He defeated former Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, who conceded with approximately 35% of the primary votes.
- Loretta Nall (Libertarian/Marijuana Party) - Founder, US Marijuana Party. She did not collect enough signatures through her petitioning efforts to appear on the ballot under Alabama's ballot access laws, and campaigned as a write-in candidate.
- Nathan Mathis (Independent) - Ex-State Rep., Ex-Democrat & 2002 State Agriculture Commissioner Candidate
- Michael A. Polemeni (Independent/Write-In) - Huntsville/Madison County Chapter President of Alabama Family Rights Association. Polemeni campaigned for shared parenting as the default custody arrangement in divorce cases.
