Alan Sheffield Ball (born March 29, 1985) is an American football safety and cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He was originally drafted by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Illinois.
Playing his final year (2006) at Illinois, Alan Ball ranked 8th all-time in passes broken up while at Illinois. He was selected as team captain and earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors. He attended St. Martin DePorres High School. In the 2010 season he was moved from cornerback to safety to replace Ken Hamlin.
